WHY WE LOVED SYDNEY
We Love Sounds Winter Festival 06 |
| |
DAY ONE
Two days after leaving the sunny streets of Manchester we arrive in a slightly cloudy Sydney. Still tired from the journey we decide to take it easy that night but end up returning to our hotel at half four in the morning after being driven to various clubs and bars by our super sound local host Hakan. |
DAY TWO (FESTIVAL DAY)
Wake up around 12ish, grab some breakfast in the hotel and then off to the festival. WOW. Arrive at fox studios, the venue for the festival, and are greeted by two guys we had met the previous night James and Con who sort us out with tickets and show us around the club. Can only be described as “FUCKING AMAZING”. The main room is a bouncing crowd of around seven thousand people pumping away to some deep electro house sort of thing. We get introduced to the organizers and wander of to check out the rest of the party. A cool guy called Harley who we had met earlier takes us in to the hip hop dome where there’s some heavy grimey beats going down and some crazy dancing. Next on to the “bang gang tent” which is ram packed with smiling Australians. Finally we venture to the Forum. The most club like of the stages set out on three levels looking down on to the dance floor. |
| The next 12 hours spent at the festival consisted of incredible music, fantastic light shows and brilliant people. All the music was fantastic but we were especially hooked on the Forum set from ten till two withTiefschwarz, the Youngsters and Digitalism. Also on the main stage the one and only GRANDMASTER FLASH and also James Zabiela. |
At around 3am the festival finishes and we prepare our selves for the journey home and bed. But no, we are of to the after party at the civic club in central Sydney where we’re whisked past the bouncers and descend into a dark room pumping to the beats of none other than TIEFSCHWARZ. We spend around 4 of the best hours here during which we have drinks paid for by the festival orgernisers and meet James Zabiela who we’d been dancing to earlier at the festival. Finally at around 8o’clock we head back to the hotel. What a day. |
DAY 3
Day 3 consists of waking up at ten o’clock at night, eating some food in bed and then going back to sleep.
DAY 4
Wake up and the sun is shining. Of we go into the city and to the typical tourist hotspots. We see the opera house the harbor bridge and the botanical gardens. Seriously these gardens are brilliant, definitely worth a visit.
DAY 5
Just chilled during the day and then went out for a meal and to a club on Bondi beach at night. Really cool place.
| |
DAY 6
Lunch with Harley at a restaurant next to our hotel and then out for drinks that night with James and Con. Three really sound guys who sorted us out a lot whilst we were there. |
| |
DAY 7
Hyde Park for lunch and an attempt at going to see Bondi beach during the afternoon which ended with us getting lost and sitting on a small beach with an old couple feeding the birds!! That night we head to a break beats night where again we get VIP entry and get treated to some fantastic music. Back to the hotel at around 4 or 5 and chow down on some tasty snacks. |
| |
DAY 8 (LAST DAY)
We get up quite late so end up mooching round darling harbor in and out of the bars and clubs and end up at place called HOME. Really nice club where we were once again sorted with free entry. We stay there till around 4 then head back to the hotel to pack our bags and get ready for the long trip back to Manchester. WHAT A FUCKING WEEK!!!
Thank you “We Love” |
