Sunday is the second We Love... RA instalment, we've put our heads together to bring you a journey in musical history. Those of you making your way to the hallowed grounds will be granted a day of pioneers & dance culture legends.
Greg Wilson, the arch deacon of superior electro, by embracing New York’s radical new trends in the 80's, exposed Britain to the electro funk/soul phenomenon. This funk renegade, his illustrious nights at The Hacienda and Legend, dastardly mixing techniques and his brew of electronica and soul, is responsible for kicking off the UK club culture. We’re lucky enough to get two sets from the disco chemist, his first being an early one in the terrazzo, and the second, one of his legendary disco sets in El Salon. We Love… catalysts.
The second historic founder we’ve squirreled over, DJ Pierre, is famed for discovering the 'acid effect’ in the mid 80’s Chicago House explosion. His collaboration unleashed the instant classic "Acid Trax", which spawned the historic Acid House movement. Support in the Discoteca comes from Synth boffin Riton, David Phillips, Andy Baxter, South America’s biggest DJ/Producer Hernan Cataneo, and one of Joris Voorn’s famed ‘high energy’ live sets.
Masters of nu wave rave 2manydjs headline the main terrace for the last time this summer, expect crowd-surfing and blinding beats and pieces of the old and new school. A welcome return too for Ralph Lawson who celebrates his 40th this Sunday, he has told us that anybody guessing his first born name on the night will be rewarded with a pint of bitter, what more could you ask for?!?
