WE LOVE... GOING OUT WITH A BANG!
Date: 25-9-2009

They say all good things must come to an end, and who are we to argue? 16 weeks down the 2009 line, after a long, hot and steamy summer, here at We Love... HQ, we're ready for a holiday, ready to sit back and relax, ready to take a chill pill and ready to trek all over the world in search of new experiences, endless summers, fresh music and all-important inspiration. But not until we've closed the curtains on We Love... by throwing the shindig to end all shindigs this weekend!

We've teamed up with Space to throw closing party like no other - the famous outdoor Flight Club Arena, that specially constructed behemoth of a makeshift dance floor in the car park (albeit kitted out with Funktion 1) is open once again... for the grand finale, to bid adieu, to wave adios, say sayonara, chant Namaste and above all, express our biggest thank-you-very-muches to you all! Our advice? Based on past experiences is to GET IN EARLY. This party waits for no man and since it's you last chance to dance on the hallowed floors of Space this year, you may as well make the most of every hour from the kick-off time of midday until the sun comes up.

In the immortal words of someone who truly loved to party: 'This is the end... beautiful friend, the end.' Until next time, that is...

From the minute the clock strikes 12-midday, the Sunset Terrace will be your first point of contact in the club. Dropping the very first tune of the closing party will be Andy Baxter, followed by Arian, Oscar Cano, and our very own Jason Bye and Jonathan Ulysses. Then, in his grand finale performance of an awesome 16-week season is the godfather of Balearic beats Alfredo, accompanied by the awesome Ian C on percussion, handing it over to Rebeka Brown, Tom Novy and last but not least fresh from the mighty Bestival festival Rob Da Bank brings the room to a close for the summer of 2009 as the clock strikes midnight.

Out in the car park, the famous Flight Club Arena mega structure has finally been completed, ready to welcome Dan Tait and Sneaky Sound System for the early bird special, followed by a much-hyped DJ set by Pendulum. Elio Riso, Wally Lopez and Guy Gerber get the massive space ready for the onslaught of two of our most favourite residents - yep, we're talking about the tasty twosome Tiefschwarz and We Love... perennial Steve Lawler, bringing the outdoor antics to an end at midnight like no one else in Ibiza can.

Elsewhere in the club, you'll be happy to hear the music keeps on going alllll night long! In the Covered Terraza, Ian Blevins starts off the proceedings alongside Wally Lopez, Nick Curly and the first lady of house music (and the kind provider of this week's awesome DJ mix - download below), Smokin Jo. Then Felix and Al of Hot Chip return (after delving into the deep dark Discoteca a couple of weeks ago), followed by their good mash-up mates 2ManyDJs. Returning to his roost for one last hurrah is Paul Woolford and closing the room in her own ethereal feline style (and on the mic to boot) will be Miss Kittin.

Up on the Premier Etage for one final sunset view over the mountains, you'll find Jon Howell, Camilo Franco, Ben Korbel, Andy Carroll and our good mate Jamie Fat Neck on duty, before handing the reins over to Valentin Huedo and Bruno to blow the roof off - if it had one of course! Then downstairs in El Salon, it's up to Oriol Calvo and Paul Darey to get you in the mood for a big old slice of world music courtesy of Mr Doris and Mo Nunez followed by some authentic Balearic grooves from Señor Jonathan Grey.

In the depths of the Discoteca, Remo and Chris Liebing are on hand to get you acclimatised before handing it over to a man who consistently week in, week out fills the floor before our headliners, David Phillips. Then it's Paul Mogg's turn to hit the decks before our king of the after-hours break dancing comp, Martin Buttrich sets up for round 2. Our money's on zee German! Techno legend Jeff Mills gives us three hours of power before James Zabiela unveils his new Pioneer boy's toys... we already know we'll need security to drag him off the decks, the question is, will you be there to watch?!

And finally, up at the top of the staircase, in the Red Box, Space resident DJs Lewis Ryder, Aleksia and Oscar Colorado will be warming up, then passing the baton to our DJ Mag competition winner, Eddie Vanderhyden. Then, it's over to the underground success story (even if they did bribe most of the press themselves!!) of this summer The Burlington Project for one last night of mayhem. Behind the decks will be Coley, Jem Haynes (fresh from last weekend's high of closing the covered terrace), BP main man and master of mischief Ryan O'Gorman plus special guest Clive Henry. And - if you can manage to squeeze the coveted information out of them - these are definitely the blokes to speak to about the whereabouts of the after parties! Who said Ibiza couldn't party in the daytime anymore?

Smokin Jo
DJ MIX - DJ SMOKIN JO
Smokin Jo has been ruling our covered terrace this summer and she'll be rocking the room for one last time (in 2009 anyway!) from 10.30 this Sunday night. If you can't be there (or if you need a little something to help get you in the mood), this one-hour mix she calls 'Systematic' (once you've turned your lights out and volume up) is the next best thing. A fresh and fierce tech-house mix with plenty of twisted sounds and thumping beats, it's got plenty of oomph, attitude and makes us wish it were Sunday already...

WE LOVE... FRESHBLOOD
The September winner of our Fresh Blood competition is DJ Ed Lee, with his mix dubbed 'Bufo Bufo'. Ed says he spends countless hours looking for those special records that make his style like no other, always looking in between the cracks to find things others have often missed and this is what really makes his mix stand out from the rest. On this mix, he says he wanted to make something that would stand the test of time - more of an after hours style with all sorts of styles from IDM, dub step, progressive, ambient, classical and jazz – what else can we say? We Love… it!
