Danny Howells

Danny is one of the few DJs on the scene today that truly has a style of his own. With his passion for all styles of music and infectious personality, Danny has created a unique, eclectic sound that has established him as one of the top DJs in the world.

Danny is noted as one of the hardest working and most dedicated individuals in the business, with over 18 years experience and a hectic touring schedule that constantly takes him around the world. Danny has come a long way since his early beginnings DJing at Bedrock in his hometown of Hastings, though his complete love of all music remains the same. He has played at the world's coolest clubs and held residencies at venues such as Arc, Ministry of Sound, Twilo, Renaissance, The End, and Bedrock, as well as his own Dig Deeper nights worldwide, so it’s no coincidence that he's been placed in DJ Magazine's top 100 DJs in the world 9 times.

It's not just as a DJ where Danny has made a name for himself; he's also an accomplished producer and remixer. With Dick Trevor, he has been responsible for many stand out tracks, including the timeless ‘Persuasion’/’Repercussion’ on Bedrock Records, ‘Breathe’ on Renaissance Records and ‘Kinkyfunk’ on Yoshitoshi Records. They also hit the charts in 2004 with their Miami hit Dusk till Dawn, which was released on Cr2 Records and featured the vocals of Erire. Danny has also had massive dance-floor success with Deep Dish as "Size DDD" and the Eminem sampling "Nobody listens to techno". He was called in to remix Roachford's "Ride the Storm", Madonna's hit single "Get Together", Marco Bailey's "Smooth Drive", and Destiny's Child "Soldier". Other artists that have received the remix treatment include Robbie Williams, David Morales, BT, Chakra, Ashtrax, Coco and Stonebridge and many more, most recently "Waiting For You" by Bent.

Danny's most recent compilation was his contribution to Renaissance's legendary Mix Collection series, released in September 2008, and featured as Mixmag’s compilation of the month. Previously, Danny has compiled acclaimed mixes for Global Underground, being the only DJ to contribute to not only the main series with his Miami album, but also the 24:7 and Nu-Breed Series. In addition to this, he’s compiled a CD for Azuli's Choice series, as well as three volumes of his own Nocturnal Frequencies series. His mixes have also made waves on the world famous Radio 1 Essential Mix, where his fourth mix aired in early 2007.

2008 was a big year for Danny. He was voted Number 4 in the Data Transmission DJ Top 40 poll and Number 13 in the Resident Advisor DJ Top 100 poll. Danny is a DJ with a broad musical taste who likes anything from jazz to rock, to pop and anything a bit bizarre. He likes to champion his own special tracks and records that nobody else has latched on to and has a way of combining cutting edge grooves with crowd pleasing dynamics that enable him to connect with his audience making him one of the hottest DJs in the world.

Missing the studio terribly, Danny has gone back in to produce a batch of solo material. In 2009, he plans to build upon the success of his Dig Deeper parties worldwide, allowing him to stretch his wings by playing all night long in his favourite clubs and cities, as well continuing to build upon his discography of original productions. He will also launch the Dig Deeper label, with his first release ‘September’ due out in February.

Lee Burridge

A Biography written by Lee... Very nice.

I've been a DJ since December 26th 1984 when I started a mobile disco for weddings, birthday parties and the like.

I played lots of pop music including Depeche Mode and The Pet Shop Boys until discovering house music in the late 80's.

I went to a lot of parties in fields and clubs and fell in love with dance music (and a voodoo woman named Phyllis).

I moved from the UK to Hong Kong in 1991 (which isn't in Japan, as lots of journalists seem to think).

(I like using parenthesis).

I helped build up a crazy underground scene in HK between 1991-97 as no one was playing dance music there.

I also spent a lot of time from 1992 onwards playing at the full moon parties in Thailand as no one was playing records there either.

I moved back to the UK in 1997 and teamed up with Craig Richards and Sasha to play at the Tyrant parties in London and Nottingham.

I slept on a trolley in Craig's studio for a while but eventually got a real bed.

I released two super Tyrant mix CDs  with Craig.

I have also released four other mix CDs including two for Global Underground and one for Balance which I love.

I play many, many crazy clubs all over the world each year and usually end up DJing in someone's living room or garden (weather permitting).

I play at festivals such as Coachella, Love Parade, Exit, Creamfields, Notting Hill Carnival and enjoy camping.

I often get asked by journalists to describe what type of music I play.

I don't know is the answer.

I launched my 365 project in June 2005. It was really fun and unbelievably interesting. Why don't you ask me about it.

I mostly play records but sometimes play CDs.

I don't take my computer clubbing.

I like making records with silly titles.

I don't ever seem to get round to releasing them though.??I can't play the piano.

I can play the triangle.

I have been in the DJ mag poll at number 10, 27, 31, 56, 76  and 88 but still feel exactly the same.

I was number ten on Resident Advisors top 100 DJ’s in 2008 but failed to turn up in DJ mags one.

I have lied once (or was it twice?) in this biography.

I love you.
