Blackhall and Bookless have over 4 years experience playing side by side, and countless more spent individually following the scene and expanding their musical knowledge. Two parts of the seven strong team that set up forward thinking underground night Jaunt in their hometown two years ago, the pair have since enjoyed two seasons hosting the legendary back room at Ibizan sunset strip bar Savannah, which has already led to further dates at the likes of Privilege and Space on the white isle to date.
With Jaunt> recordings also waiting in the wings, the product of their recent move into production, and their energy split perfectly between putting on their cutting edge clubnights as well as maintaining the enviable party atmosphere they are famed for, it’s with little doubt and much excitement that things start to get even busier for the pair.
JAUNT>
After only 2 and a half years on the scene, underground Newcastle night Jaunt> continue to snowball in popularity and develop their brand name amongst the North’s clued up music followers.
The brainchild of 7 close friends, all having grown up around the cities party scene since their school days, Jaunt> was originally housed in the intimate Newcastle venue Red Rooms where it made a name for itself mainly amongst friends of the group. But after demand far outweighed capacity, the night set up camp in one of the coolest and most well known venues in town, Cosmic Ballroom.
Having not only cast the city under the Jaunt> spell, the brand has also made the leap to the clubbing Mecca of Ibiza for the past two seasons to run their atmospheric events in the much loved back room in Savannah, a space well known amongst the islands workers as the place for many a debauched secret party, with an atmosphere perfect for a forward thinking, musically progressive brand such as this.
As we move further into 2010, Jaunt> continue to push things forward in the North, by spilling out enviable bookings that have already included Motor City Drum Ensemble, Robert Dietz, Chris Tietjen and Dinky amongst many others. More notably, in a market highly saturated with tech house nights, their open minded approach to the musical spectrum sees them serve up an eclectic mix of grooving house, techno, disco and deeper beats, that ceaselessly create a party vibe never failing to get their faithful crowd raving until the early hours.
With a monthly slot now at East London’s Russian Bar, parties up North in both clubs and their own secret warehouse, as well as collaborations with other promoters in the pipeline, now’s the time to catch Jaunt> in their element as the UK takeover continues.
