Bottin brings his own brand of intricate cosmic thump with this exclusive mix for We Love. He's been star performer in Space's chic back room El Salon for a couple of years now and we're big fans of his uniquely horror fueled disco. There's a few unreleased bits on here so think of it as a literal look into the future.

Heritage by Alfredo & Jaime Fiorito

The story of this musical duo started in the late 80s on the magical Mediterranean island of Ibiza. Heritage is the collaboration that brings together two generations across years of musical discoveries - the father Alfredo aka DJ Alfredo, purveyor of what has become known as the Balearic sound, and his son Jamie Fiorito who through the addition of his knowledge and passion has delivered an ever evolving sound over the years.

DJing together since the early 2000s for promoters such as Manumission, Carry On and We Love to name a few, this father/son team have provided this Heritage: music without boundaries of time of genre, messages that travel, join and surprise young and old, poor and rich for a common cause - the party!

Last week’s one hour live set from international man of intrigue Abe Duque (who else do you know who went from being a minister’s son to a club kid to a US marine and then an international DJ?) was packed full of heavy vocals, acid house beats and had the Discoteca worked into a frenzy. It is inspired by one of those trips where I found myself lost in the middle of nowhere and ended up staying positive and having a three day (extremely fun) misadventure around the island. This mix is a departure from what I normally do. I purposefully have no giant "bang you over the head tracks," it is much more of a long, interesting flow. Gareth has kindly written a few words about what and where this mix came from:

'It’s weird because a lot of times during my DJing some of the best results have come out of pretty dark times and this mix is the same. The start of the year I didn’t have a good run of luck, I had a couple of gigs cancelled and the worst viral infection I’ve had in years! Out of sheer frustration I decided to record a new mix and this was the end product.

It features the kind of music I like to play at CIRCUS, Pigeonhole Disco and the other nights I play at in Liverpool.

What that tends to be is disco influenced music from the past, present and future, but I also like to throw in some house and techno as well, something I’ve done here towards the end of the mix.
I hope you enjoy it!'

Generic People Mix Tape September 2009

Generic People are a group of party animals from Cork City in little old Ireland, who get drunk, party hard and perform far from ordinary DJ sets with a duel laptop set up synced together incorporating various pieces of hardware, controllers and trusted decks, a batch of VSTs, sound effects, loops, re-edits, remixes & original productions. Their impressive ‘Dark Disco Mix Tape’ was actually a LIVE mix using CDJs, Ableton, Trigger Finger, BCR 2000, Korg R3, Pioneer EFX 500, and VSTs (and if you don’t know what that is, google it!) spanning all forms of music and with a blatant disregard for genres. Listen up and you’ll see just how they impressed us!

There's little doubt that genre blending house producer, Hook N Sling, is one of Australia's fastest rising DJ/producer stars. His tunes are used like weapons by a growing amount of DJs around the world, be they be specializing in breaks, electro or tech house. He's been coming up with solid gold of late, with numerous compliations for music magnates, ganing an Aria Nomination for a collaboration with Kid Kenobi, and scoring props from big league boys Pete Tong and James Zabiela. Jamie Bull (Homoelectric) We Love mix

It was at Leeds’ polysexual mecca Speed Queen where Jamie Bull first gained notoriety for his eclectic disco and house sets. His residency there for five years for a flamboyant crowd provided him with a platform upon which he was able to develop his skills at dance radio network Galaxy FM. He became the producer and resident spinner for their Galaxy Anthems show, helping ravers in semi-retirement to relive those hands in the air moments once again.

These days Jamie is synonymous with his residency at Manchester's HomoElectric: A non-stop exotic disco for twisted sleazy people. He has played alongside Horse Meat Disco, Roisin Murphy, Crazy P, Maurice Fulton and Disco Bloodbath.

2010 saw Jamie branching into production to work on his own re-edits and remixes. His re-edit of the Diana Ross disco classic ‘No One Gets The Prize’ has gained worldwide praise, whilst his recent remixes for Robyn and Roisin Murphy lead him to working on forthcoming material of his own.

The mix that started it all! What I feel is a timeless mix that seemed to bring a bit of attention my way over 5 years ago (it gave me my first Pacha & We Love... dj slots amongst others) & mixed live in my bedroom! Using strictly vinyl, no computers, editing techniques or tech wizardry & was actually recorded using a mini disc (remember them!). I think this mix shows my backroom/leftfield/hip hop styles to the fullest... there is also a homage to the late great Tony D at the start (although i didn't know it at the time of recording).

I  (Phat Phil Coooper) have been playing for We Love for quite a few years now and it is still the standout gig of the year for me... It like being asked to play football in the World Cup final, BIG!!!

But it's not just the DJ set, its the whole weekend which culminates in a music listening session back at Mark Broadbents gaff... trying to twist each other with blessed-out Balearic, deep Disco, sweet Soul, weird Jazz, Doom, Dub, Cambodian Pop, Punk Classical and beyond!!! This mix reflects all my times in Ibiza from the early days of 1992 watching A Man Called Adam live at the Cafe Del Mar through to my Cream residency days and getting messy with Lawler, Gooding and Bysie at Mambo and Amnesia through to Space now... A lot of flavors all loosely blended together with fond memories and love to create the NuNorthern Soul sound of today...

A bit of nerdy info here... The early days of playing Ibiza, I would have 4 or 5 boxes of records shipped over jam packed with vinyl for my 8 hour sets at Amnesia, now it's down to a laptop and midi controller in a back pack... Oh how times have changed!!!

We said we wanted to hear a variety of sounds from our Freshblood(08) entrants, and boy did we get that this month. After much deliberation we plumped for Osmo, who threw it all into the pot, from breaks to house to rave and beyond! Aimed squarely at the dancefloor, Osmo's mix is aggressive, but in a friendly way, with cuts from the likes of Bonde Do Role, Crookers, Jesse Rose and Bass Kleph. No wonder he's already getting noticed - and here's some more recognition of his talents - well done Osmo!

Having been described as a bit of a motley crew, the Trouble Vision DJs are notorious for dropping blends of the freshest house, hip hop, funky, techno, fidget house and anything else that seems appropriate to get the dance floor bouncing on the night. With a broad range of influences from ranging dubstep to disco, two of the crew, Solid Gold (aka Chris Talblaze) and Park Ranger (Mr Cyborg to his mates) will be bringing those sounds to the Red Box this weekend for Chew The Fat! The mix was inspired by the grooves I played at the first Roller Disco at Bestival on Friday 9th September, for those who don't know Bestival, it is a festival on the Isle of Wight in the UK that is hosted by Radio 1's Rob Da Bank... Anyway the temp reminded me of the groove I played when last at We Love... I plan to keep it very loose and party vibed, with lots of vocals...

Its a mixture of disco and boogie vibes, I am hoping it will offer another perspective of excellent music that features throughout the other rooms of Space...

Raffertie - Fabric London 2009

Hailing from the south coast and now based in Birmingham, Raffertie is the 21 year old DJ and producer whose innovative and down right filthy style has been smashing up the UK’s underground dance music scene for the last couple of years. Playing high energy, bass laden tunes Raffertie’s sets include everything from uplifting pop classics and 90’s rave anthems to the filthiest house, garage, grime and dubstep tracks, creating huge dance floor reactions that earned him a residency at Hold Tight in London.

Following a set of renowned bootlegs that ply all manner of tunes with sickening wonky basslines, his original productions that caught the attention of Radio1’s Mary Anne Hobbs who was so impressed she invited Raffertie to do a guest mix as part of her showcase of up and coming talent, describing him as ‘as sick as they come’.

I have been asked to be monthly resident for the second summer running at We Love Space on Sundays. We Love asked me to make a mix that captures what I am feeling for this season. Of course the tracks will change over the coming weeks but here is a selection of music mixed firmly with that legendary Terrace in mind. The sun totally changes how music sounds to me and these tracks are some that I feel will be part of the soundtrack at Space this summer.

We are getting thrown straight into the deep end on June 19th as we open with a 2020takeover with 2020Soundsystem Live, Ralph Lawson and Moodymanc for five hours, alongside Tensnake and Groove Armada. I haven't slept all week, put it that way.

Rossko takes pride in playing cutting-edge music and not afraid to be forward thinking in his sound, the art is being able to relate to the mood and the people on the dance floor, this is something Rossko is loving to learn and growing from his experiences each time he plays out..

After two days without sleep Steve Lawler found himself in a restaurant in Moscow. The eatery come club was small, sleazy, low lit and named 'Ketamina'. To set the scene further the decor of the club took and Alice in Wonderland twist with people sat astride and underneath giant mushrooms. This mix takes a one one hour snippet from Steve's set showcasing very deep, trippy, slow, beautiful house music; a side to Steve's musical wanderings which contrasts in style but equals in quality his Terrace sets which have become synonymous with We Love… Space.

A great mix that had us hooked from the start. Quite difficult to describe the style but very listenable. We think Tim put it best himself:

With this mix I tried to encapsulate a broad scope of my tastes within electronic music with an emphasis on melodic content. I have edited most of the tracks to varying extents to keep an evolving flow throughout and have more control of the programming. Starting off at quite a slow tempo there's everything from disco to electronica, house, techno and acid. I like to keep a degree of eclecticism yet making sure everything relates and is cohesive as a whole which is always a challenge. It's hopefully something that can be enjoyed as home listening as well as in the club.
