Ever the keen supporters of fresh talent the Fresh Blood project continues this Sunday when we invite likely lads Blackhall & Bookless from Jaunt>, Newcastle and Matt from Leeds based promotion mono_cult to the REd Box. Jaunt> continues to be one of the most forward thinking nights going on in the North East and have recent forays and collaborations with the likes of Asylum in Leeds, a series of secret events in London and not to mention our own festivities which are happening on an increasingly regular basis in the Toon. They also host a fantastic series of podcasts, our pick of which you can check out here. We stumbled across these candid photos via Savana Potente‘s facebook page. They are the go-to institution for electronic music in north Italy and we were only too happy to host their crew in our Red Box, which is fast becoming an island institution on Sunday nights for locals and those holiday makers who seek an intimate and underground vibe within the walls of Space. The Italian invasion is here! Ferragosto, an Italian celebration originally commemorating the end of hard labour in the fields is now a national holiday where Italians of all walks of life leave industry and the cities behind them and head for some well-earned recreation. We’ve joined up with our friends from the Torino underground – Savana Potente to give a home to the multitudes of Italians currently populating the island of Ibiza.
Hard animals
They’ll be taking over the whole top floor of the club – both the Premier Etage roof terrace and noisy back room the Red Box. Expect smooth electronica from Cipi, Ela Gee and our own residents Jon Howell and Ian Blevins on the ‘Etage’ while the Red Box will be struck by the sounds of Yaya, Gambo, Vincent, Drent along with our Andy Carroll and Jem Haynes. With another fantastic summer in the Red Box under their belts, our friends over at Chew the Fat! continue to surpass themselves with a very generous Christmas present. To celebrate the dawning of a new decade they have released 10 End of The Decade minimixes from some of their favourite artists. Highlights being stormers from Hostage, Rattus Rattus and Last Japan. All the mixes feature some of the standout tracks from the passed ten years to give that retrospective feel synonymous with the festive/new year period. All the mixes are available for free on the Fat! blog along with loads more great music and insight into the Fat! world.
