The last time we we visited Torino it was fantastic to see old friends from years in Ibiza in their homegrown institution of Savana Potente. It was a techno marathon of sorts encompassing a day and night aspect involving Ellen Allien, Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock headlining two clubs including the intimate Pier Club right on the river Po. This time we’ll be sticking to Chalet Del Valentino, a glass atrium with a retractable roof in the lush surroundings of a city park. Joris Voorn, a man who can galvanise a crowd like no other will be playing alongside Technasia who made his We Love Space debut in the summer to great acclaim. Check out the event page, here.
As you can see, this spring will mark 5 years of Savana Potente in Torino with our party being sandwiched between We Love favourite Martin Buttrich and Loco Dice. It’s a credit to the team at Savana Potente that they are able to both bring the underground quality from Berlin to Connecticut while bringing through their own young talents in the likes of Yaya. See you in Torino!

Innovative web startup Be@tv was at our NYD show at Ministry in London. There’s three fixed camera angles you can switch between, a bit like directing your own youtube video. It’s good fun. Footage and sounds from James Zabiela, Joris Voorn and Simian Mobile Disco, here.
Traditionally New Year’s Eve serves as a time for reflecting on the year gone by, but also as a chance to look ahead at what’s yet to come. For We Love… this sentiment could not be more true. With a double header of parties over the Hogmanay weekend, in Leeds on New Year’s Eve and London on New Year’s Day, we have invited some of our favourite guests from the summer parties here in Ibiza to kick start our winter activities.
We Love... Leeds
For New Year’s Eve we have teamed up with local party starters Asylum and BacktoBasics for some acid house festivities at Stinky’s Peep House. Headlining the event the Radio One’ “in new djs we trust” and Get Physical heroine Heidi will be bringing her Terrace sounds to the slightly less Balearic vibes of the West Yorkshire Pennines. Having wowed us at Space this summer it’s a pleasure to bring Heidi to this overseas event. Let’s see how her sound translates from the hallowed Space Terraza to the infamous Basics basement. The rest of the main room’s activities will be overseen by We Love… resident Jem Haynes who can’t celebrate too hard as it’s off down to London the day after where he’s bringing his label Loop Recordings to the Ministry of Sound second room. Adding the Basics touch, Buckley will be making his return to the We Love… fold after a 3 year hiatus.
The middle floor of Stinky’s will be taken over by Local lads Burnski, Tristan Da Chuna, James Holroyd Jon Woodall and Frenchy who have proven themselves countless times and are sure to celebrate in style.
Orchestrating proceedings will be PBR Streetgang; having slipped so gracefully into their role as Terrace residents this summer, it is only thanks to their help that we can put this party together. Asylum has been a Leeds institution for over seven years and we cant think of a nicer set of folk to bring in the new year with. Joining PBR Streetgang in the top room will be disco boogie doyen Greg Wilson, something not to be missed. And we are now pleased to announce the special late addition of Kitchen Sink Disco king Jamie Fatneck.
Then its off to bed, or perhaps not, before jumping on the train, plane or automobile and heading down to London and the Ministry of Sound.
We Love... London
If we are to believe the Mayans, then come New Year’s day we only have one year left to live. What better way to start the year then, than with three of our standout summer residents stacking up in the Ministry Of Sound main room? James Zabiela,Simian Mobile Disco and Joris Voorn have all excelled on the Terrace and in the Discoteca this summer but this is the first time we’ve managed to get them all playing in the same room. Expect a masterclass in house, techno and technical wizardry.
The 103 bar plays host to We Love residents Mat Playford and Jem Haynes along with his Loop Recordings partners Ian C and Martin ‘Smut‘ Wood. Over the summer Mat and Jem went beyond the call of duty at our summer home Space and away on our international events, proving why they are the most in-demand touring residents on the We Love roster. Jem’s closing Terrace set on the night of Spain’s World Cup victory was one of our summer highlights and Mat’s impromptu warm up for Groove Armada at Ministry impressed so much he’s been called back for each and every tour since. This will also serve as a jumping off point for the infant Loop Recordings, the brain child of Jem, Ian and Martin. Having introduced their label to Ibiza on the Sunset Terrace this summer where all three performed side by side, it’s now time for London to see what they have to offer.
The end is nigh! There’s still time to book flights from wherever you may be for this party of epic proportion. The line-up speaks for itself, including an Ibiza debut from Aphex Twin in the Discoteca and a return to the venerated Terraza with Basement Jaxx. Big up to David Tazzyman. See you there! x
Cosmic disco doyen Prins Thomas discusses the vagaries of process versus result in making music. New kid in the Discoteca jozif on the importance of crafting a sound. Philosophical Swedes Minilogue profess artistic inspiration comes from being a human being and someone has to play Joris Voorn‘s records.

A short preview of the artwork, music and artists to expect this summer – at We Love… Space, Ibiza. Music from Omar, Henrik Schwarz, PBR Streetgang and Soul Clap & Catz n Dogz as Clapz n Dogz.
Andy is harking back to some summer highlights for his selection this week. Julie goes vintage and sophisticated. Ruairi balances cascading classical and electronic chords with some rip-roaring 60s rhythm and blues.
Never boring and always innovative because it’s in his nature. Joris Voorn brought a new energy to the Discoteca for We Love… this summer. Spinning since ’97 he’s been playlisted by John Peel and championed by countless others. Although a relative newcomer to the international and Ibiza scene his schedule is global, taking in every corner of the world. Incase you haven’t heard he recently re-invented the mix album with his addition to the Balance series – creating a voyage stunning in its scope. Fitting hundreds of tracks seamlessly over a two-disc album, “Joris Voorn belongs in the pantheon of DJ titans for this release alone” said DJ Mag.
As a live performer, Joris has the ability to create a rhythm and energy which is truly unique – taking grooving dubby house music into an electronic sphere of techno. He was declared by many critics as this years “man of the match” at We Love… Space in Ibiza.
Q. Is there one book that you have read that has been life-changing for you?
A. I’m not sure if it really changed my life, but I have enjoyed reading Haruki Murakami’s ‘Wind Up Bird Chronicles’ very much. It shows how lonely a man can be, which I can very well relate to as an artist who’s spending most of his weekends alone on the road.
Q. Did your parents encourage you to work in music?
A. Both my parents are in music, so they have always encouraged me making music in one way or the other. Because they’re from a very different generation, they don’t always understand my work as electronic artist or dj, but they’re very happy I can make a living out of my passion.
Q. How did you begin to work professionally in music?
A. As for most electronic music artists, music was my passionate hobby, so I spend a lot of time in my bedroom making tunes or mixing tapes. When some of my records were actually released and played out I had the opportunity to go professional, so I took it!
Q. How do you apply your past experiences to what you do today?
A. By trying not to make the same mistake twice…
Q. Where is your current studio and what is it like?
A. It’s in my house in Amsterdam, located at the top, quite a small but cosy room. It’s very comfortable and the sound is great.
Q. How much have you had to consider marketing issues since embarking on your career and how has that affected your creativity?
A. Not much at all. I’ve been doing what felt right, and luckily people got the message through my music. I do know some form of marketing is important, but I’m also hoping that my natural and honest approach to the music will do most of the work for me.
Joris Voornderbar
Q. How would you describe your work?
A. My work is making and playing music in all forms and shapes possible. People haven’t seen all my different sides yet, hopefully they will one day. I do see a difference between my performance side and my studio producer side. On stage you always have to keep an eye out on the dancefloor, whereas in the studio it’s all about the music.
Q. Who were your teachers?
A. All the great musicians and bands, producers and dj’s I’ve listened to since day one. They’ve all had an influence on my musical taste and vision.
Q. Your home is burgled but fortunately the culprits are caught and your possessions returned to you. What would you deem a suitable punishment for the burglars?
A. Lifetime imprisonment! I hate it when people steal stuff, my bike got stolen last weekend, it’s very annoying and sad…
Q. You have to make one species of animal extinct. Excluding insects, which species would you make extinct?
A. Mosquitos!!!
Q. If you could spend one week in any period of history, which period would you choose?
A. I’d choose somewhere early/mid 70′s when producers were recording music in the most soulfull and creative ways possible. Think Bob James and David Axelrod.
